Review - Damien Barber & Mike Wilson
25/10/19

What a treat it was to have Damien Barber and Mike Wilson back at the Everyman Folk Club last night. The powerful and expressive voices of this dynamic duo were combined in tight, confident harmonies, as they shared their knowledge of and passion for traditional and modern folk songs. Subtle concertina or guitar accompaniment was used artfully by Damien for some songs, with others sung a capella. Their engaging music – none more sublime than Ewan MacColl’s The Joy Of Living – was interspersed with their humorous banter. Thank you both for a highly entertaining evening.

The night was enriched by terrific floor spots from Dave Tricker, Steve Shipley & Marya Parker, Bill Johnston, Dave Bartlett & Linda Baddeley, John Robinson, Holly Johnston, and a solo spot from Steve. Well done all.

Three cheers to our magnificent audience for your continued support of the club, and your wonderful chorus singing – outstanding.  We’re looking forward to seeing you all again next time, Friday 29 November 2019, when we’re delighted to have Carolyn Robson and Moira Craig as our guests.
