Review - John Kirkpatrick
25/11/16

Christmas came early on Friday when the inimitable and energetic John Kirkpatrick brought his one-man show – Carolling & Crumpets – to the Everyman Folk Club. John performed traditional material and his own compositions illustrating some of the interesting traditions and customs of Midwinter, including The Boar’s Head Carol, his hilarious Carolling and Crumpets song (the nativity story sung from the view of animals in the stable), and his family recipe for The Great Christmas Pud. We were also treated to John’s spectacular party piece, swinging his concertina to take advantage of the Doppler Effect to sound like a peal of bells. What a wonderfully entertaining and informative evening – and a great end to the year.

Great floor spots on the night too – thank you to Mike Green & Kate Dines, John Wright, Mike & Adam Garland, Terence Blacker, and Steve Danby. One each from us two too.

As always, many thanks to our wonderful audience – not only for a sold out evening this time but also for your continued support of the Everyman throughout the year. We hope you liked your mince pies.

We look forward to seeing you on Friday 27 January 2017 when we are delighted to have Ninebarrow – Jon Whitley & Jay LaBouchardiere – as our guests.
