Impressive arrangements, captivating singing, and discerning accompaniments from our guests, The Askew Sisters, at The Everyman Folk Club on Friday. Emily and Hazel were engaging and delightful, and it was a very lively evening … even though many of their songs were dark and challenging! They presented a fine balance of songs, ballads and dance tunes; many benefiting from their interest in mediaeval and baroque music.

Enthusiastic and animated floor spots as well – many thanks to Trevor Follows, Xanthe Robson, Mike Green & Dave Tricker, Steve Danby, Steve & Kate Dines, and Terence Blacker – and to Steve Danby for MCing on the night.
