Review - Crows
27/04/18

Huge thanks to Mick Ryan, James Patterson, Paul Downes & Dave Bordewey who were thoroughly mesmerizing at the Everyman Folk Club on Friday night. The quartet fused inventive arrangements and masterly musicianship with their unique mix of power and warmth – and their a cappella harmony was exemplary. Sensational! The sound of 1980s super-group, Crows, was built ‘on the foundation of solid harmony singing supported by sensitive and appropriate instrumentation’ … with Crows re-formed, it still is.

Mick, James and Paul have performed at the Everyman before (solo and in combinations with Pete Harris, Maggie Boyle, John Dipper and Ralph Jordan) but this was Dave’s first appearance. We hope he enjoyed his visit as much as we did.

The evening included great floor singing from Mike Green & Dave Tricker, Irene Shettle, Keith & Mary-Jane Tyrrell, Bill Johnston & Sheila Darling, and Steve Danby. Thanks to you all, and to Steve for accompanying me.

A little (a lot!) of rain didn’t deter our phenomenal audience, and it was fabulous to hear everyone singing choruses with such spirit and gusto. Thanks to every man and every woman. See you next month, Friday 25 May 2018, when we’re delighted to have James Hickman & Dan Cassidy as our guests for our last event of this season.
