Review - The Wilderness Yet
27/10/23

A stellar performance from folksinger Rosie Hodgson, traditional fiddler Rowan Piggott, and guitarist-flautist Philippe Barnes at the Everyman Folk Club last night – thank you, The Wilderness Yet. A cheerful and mesmerising evening of gorgeous traditional and original songs inspired by nature, and exuberant tunes from Rowan and Phillipe. Rosie’s beautiful voice was enhanced by subtle and skilled accompaniments, and the trio’s a cappella harmony was exquisite.

   “What would the world be once bereft
   Of wet and of wildness? Let them be left,
   O let them be left, wilderness and wet;
   Long live the weeds, and the wilderness yet.”
      - Gerard Manley Hopkins

Very well done and thank you to all the evening’s floor performers - Mike Acott, Deidre Lamont, Terence Blacker, Florence Cox, Jeremy Fox, and Patricia Woodward - finished ‘up’ by Charlie Haylock.

Undeterred by mist and fog, our tremendous audience maintained the Everyman’s reputations for singing at every opportunity and for welcoming guests and visitors. Huge thanks to you all. We’ll see you again on Friday 24 November 2023 when we’re delighted to have James Patterson & John Dipper back at the club.
