Review - Carolyn Robson & Moira Craig
31/10/25

Huge thanks to Carolyn Robson and Moira Craig for an evening of exceptional unaccompanied singing at the Everyman Folk Club last Friday. Their extensive knowledge of traditional folk songs and ballads was demonstrated by their selection of material, with this Halloween night being filled with shape-shifting, magic, disguise and deception. As well as their enthralling harmony singing, we were enchanted by their solos, and we also enjoyed short readings from the 2006 Tales of Otherness tour by Craig Morgan Robson. A mystical and magical night of Carolyn and Moira’s unmatched vocal unity.

We also had terrific floor spots - with Terence Blacker premiering a new song; Susannah Danby making her debut appearance at the club; serious and comic songs from Malcolm Austen; hilarious monologues from MC Charlie Haylock; a moving tribute to David Robertson by June Thaine singing Colum Sands’ The Night Is Young; and fabulous tunes by multi-instrumentalist and Northumbrian pipe maker, Paul Tabbush.

As always, the Everyman audience took every opportunity to join in with all the choruses – and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone again on Friday 28 November 2025 when our guests are multi-talented quartet, Narthen - Jo Freya, Fi Fraser, Sarah Matthews, Doug Eunson.
