A top tier performance from Pete Morton at the Everyman Folk Club last night when, as the ghost of Sailor Swift, he regaled us with music and tall tales. Pete delivered a vast number of songs, manifesting characters met by Sailor Swift during the last four centuries, and presenting chorus songs pertinent to each of them. Into his joyful combination of choruses and laughter, Pete integrated satire, history, philosophy, and serious political observations seamlessly; none more so than during an encounter with John Newton leading to the hard-hitting inclusion of Amazing Grace. Pete’s agility in Nessun Dorma - vocally and physically - was extraordinary. A monumental display of skill and ingenuity from this tremendous entertainer.

We also enjoyed terrific floor spots - from Graham Schofield, Marcia Phillips & Steve Wheeler (Sóncræft), Steve Shipley, Charlie Haylock (MC), Mary-Jane Tyrrell, and Colin Mallett. Thank you all for your marvellous songs and tunes.
