Review - Narthen
28/11/25

A brilliant performance from Jo Freya, Fi Fraser, Sarah Matthews, and Doug Eunson – gift-wrapped as Narthen – to end 2025 at the Everyman Folk Club. Their festive offering was a sublime mix of songs and tunes - secular and sacred; rousing and sensitive; traditional and contemporary - including familiar carols and self-penned material. The glorious voices of this quartet, singularly and in harmony, were uplifted by their amazing accompaniments, and we relished the stunning representations of their assortment of instruments. Thank you all for a stocking-full of joy, sparkle, and panache.

Huge thanks to our marvellous floor performers. Shirley Harry, Steve Shipley, Alan Day, Colin & Karen Cater, Yael Bebb, and Katie Howson entertained us with songs, tunes, and a monologue - with Yael and Katie each making their first appearance at the club. Excellent emceeing by Charlie Haylock too.

Undeterred by road closures and inclement weather, our incredible audience filled the room, and affirmed the Everyman’s reputation by taking every chance they had to sing their hearts out – a lovely atmosphere to finish the year. We wish you all the best of the season, and we’ll see you next year – on Friday 30 January 2026 – with Pagoda Project: Paul Hutchinson, Karen Wimhurst, and Hannah Cumming as our guests.
